If you like the first book in the series, you'll like the second one too. The excitement in the story builds as it goes along as Will, his friend Horace, and the ranger Gilan set out on a mission to the king of the Celts.
Strangely, the border post is deserted, the nearest town is deserted, and the next also. When a girl Will's age shows up at their camp, she explains that Wargals have been attacking all the towns. She claims to be a servant girl, but she doesn't act like one.
After Gilan decides he has to take news of the Wargal attacks back to Araluen, Will, Horace and Evanlyn discover the plan of the evil Morgarath—and must stop him and his army on their own!
The book is similar to the first in its ratings, though G*d is used a few more times than in the first book.
The Burning Bridge (Ranger's Apprentice, Book 2) by John Flanagan (Puffin, 2007), 288 pages.
